Part-time Salon Receptionist - DC
About Thrive Hair Bar Receptionists
Join us in our mission to normalize kinky, coily, and curly hair in all settings as a part-time receptionist at Thrive Hair Bar DC! As a receptionist at Thrive Hair Bar, your role is all about fostering a welcoming environment for all those who walk through our doors. Our receptionists are naturally friendly people who enjoy learning new things frequently, helping others, and whose responsibilities include include answering inquiries via phone calls/texts/emails/in person/social media, welcoming guests, scheduling appointments & managing stylists schedules, being well-versed on our offerings to make educated suggestions to guests, retail sales, laundry, light cleaning, and handling clerical duties such as taking photos for social media, record-keeping, research, and data entry.
Qualifications
Multi-tasks well
Organized
Excellent phone etiquette and communication skills
Stylish and prideful in appearance
Excellent computer skills (typing, researching using web search engines, data entry, adopting new technology)
Customer service skills to provide a welcoming and positive experience for clients
Prior experience in a salon or customer-facing role is a plus
Responsibilities
Answering and managing all phone, email, and social media inquiries during salon business hours
Gaining and sharing expertise in Thrive Hair Bar offerings
Retail sales and checkout
Hitting target retail sales goals
Scheduling appointments over the phone
Attending and actively participating in all team meetings
Helping stylists clean and disinfect between clients
Daily Dusting, Sweeping, Mopping, & Laundry
Making & Serving Coffee, Tea, Water, and Smoothies
Filing content and data entry

Requirements
You must be a licensed cosmetologist in Virginia
You must commit to four, 8 hour training sessions over two weeks during probation in our DC location
Pay
Guaranteed Hourly Pay$ for new hires during probationary period or a $500 sign-on bonus as a commission-only hire
Service commission + retail commission + tips
Complimentary training is provided for all team members
Pay: $40,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
Expected hours: No less than 8 per week

About Thrive Hair Bar Salon Managers
Thrive Hair Bar Arlington is looking for an experienced salon manager to manage a small team of 2-4 stylists in our Arlington suite. This manager is always on time, always looking for ways to improve stylist performance, and is proactive in addressing stylist and client concerns. This manager’s skills include recruiting talented stylists, incentivizing stylist performance, patience, empathy, attention to detail, and a get it done attitude. The ideal candidate would also be passionate about natural hair and about helping people feel comfortable, confident, and empowered emphasizing their natural beauty.
Responsibilities include:
Recruiting and training new stylists
Providing client services for at least 4 half shifts per week
Leading weekly training sessions for up to 4 stylists
Aiding stylists in need
Conflict resolution
Attending, leading, and actively participating in team meetings
Maintaining cleanliness and aesthetic appeal of the salon by ensuring team compliance with cleanliness, sanitary, and disinfection protocols
Updating inventory lists with low and out of stock items
Attending local trade shows and job fairs to help grow the company footprint
Building and maintaining team camaraderie and a positive/inclusive atmosphere
Benefits & Pay:
Annual Pay - $50,000 - $85,000
Commission + tips during styling shifts
Eligible for bonus pay based on achieving clear targets

Thrive Hair Bar is looking for its Summer marketing intern!
Each season we have the opportunity to work with creative students who have great ideas for how to best market services, products, and experiences. These students have great attention to detail, learn & grow from their experiences, and thrive on constructive feedback. Is Thrive Hair Bar's next great marketing intern you?
We're looking for someone who is passionate about disrupting the American beauty standard, who is passionate about helping people feel comfortable, confident, and empowered in their true selves, and who will be comfortable with constantly adapting to a rapidly evolving work environment by helping Thrive Hair Bar realize it's marketing strategy that includes live, in-person events, social media (Instagram & Facebook), virtual events, classes, and frequent collaborations with industry leaders and medical professionals.
Internship Responsibilities
This role expectations are that you dedicate at least 8 hours per week to Thrive Hair Bar assignments which are due 1x per week, attend weekly one on ones with the CEO, and work in person at least 1x per week for a minimum of 2 hours. Some assignments require in-person work and some assignments can be done remotely.
The responsibilities include creating & editing marketing materials including emails, social media posts, website posts, videos, an internal newsletter, the marketing calendar and recruiting model talent.

Are you interested in all things hair and are you studying to enter the field of dermatology?
Do you enjoy researching hair care products and how the ingredients interact?
If so, we'd love to have you as a Thrive Hair Bar's dermatology intern!
We're looking for someone who is passionate about disrupting the American beauty standard, who is passionate about helping people better understand their hair, and who will be comfortable with constantly adapting to a rapidly evolving work environment by helping Thrive Hair Bar with product research, hair and scalp analysis, staying on top of the latest research in trichology, and designing and executing a meta-analysis.
This role would be required to submit work at least 1x per week and be in person at least 1x per week.
The role responsibilities include completing 1 qualitative meta-analysis; writing at least 4 short articles/ blog posts; comparing, testing, and reporting on ingredients & products; collaborating with the marketing team; and attending one on one meetings with the CEO.

Thrive Hair Bar is always looking for hair models to help us continue to learn and grow. Models must be available for up to 2 hours on the dates selected. All models must be 18+ years old and send a photo of themselves with their natural hair (no extensions) and a full body pic or public social media page. We love all hair (kinky, coily, curly, wavy, straight, locs, loose, etc.) If selected, we will respond via email sharing upcoming modeling dates and to guide you in how to book your modeling appointment.
