What You’ll Learn & Do:

• Deliver outstanding customer service and professional conflict resolution.

• Assist with recruiting, onboarding, and training new stylists for our Philly team.

About Thrive Hair Bar Receptionists/First Impression Specialists

Join us in our mission to normalize kinky, coily, and curly hair in all settings as Thrive Hair Bar First Impression Specialist! As an FIS at Thrive Hair Bar, your role is all about fostering a welcoming environment for all those who walk through our doors. Our FIS team members are naturally friendly people who enjoy learning new things frequently, helping others, and whose responsibilities include include answering inquiries via phone calls/texts/emails/in person/social media, welcoming guests, scheduling appointments & managing stylists schedules, being well-versed on our offerings to make educated suggestions to guests, retail sales, laundry, light cleaning, and handling clerical duties such as taking photos for social media, record-keeping, research, and data entry.

Qualifications

• Multi-tasks well

• Organized

• Excellent phone etiquette and communication skills

• Stylish and prideful in appearance

• Excellent computer skills (typing, researching using web search engines, data entry, adopting new technology)

• Customer service skills to provide a welcoming and positive experience for clients

• Prior experience in a salon or customer-facing role is a plus

Responsibilities

• Answering and managing all phone, email, and social media inquiries during salon business hours

• Gaining and sharing expertise in Thrive Hair Bar offerings

• Retail sales and checkout

• Hitting target retail sales goals

• Scheduling appointments over the phone

• Attending and actively participating in all team meetings

• Helping stylists clean and disinfect between clients

• Daily Dusting, Sweeping, Mopping, & Laundry

• Making & Serving Coffee, Tea, Water, and Smoothies

• Filing content and data entry

Compensation:

• Guaranteed hourly pay during your first 60 days or a $500 sign-on bonus after your first 60 days if starting as commission-only

Join the Thrive Hair Bar Team as a Salon Appearance Specialist (SASsy!)

Location: Washington, DC | Position Type: Part-Time | Pay: $17.95 per hour

Are you passionate about beauty, hospitality, and creating empowering spaces for natural hair? Thrive Hair Bar is on a mission to normalize kinky, coily, and curly hair in all settings—and we want YOU to be part of it.

We're looking for a Salon Appearance Specialist (a.k.a. SASsy!) to help us create an exceptional salon experience for every client who walks through our doors.

What You'll Do

As a SASsy, you’re not just part of the team—you’re the glue that keeps the salon vibe on point. Your role blends collaboration, cleanliness, and creativity to ensure both clients and team members feel supported.

Your responsibilities include:

• Cleaning & Sanitization of All Surfaces: including high-contact areas such as door handles, light switches, countertops, sinks, mirrors, and cabinet handles to ensure hygiene standards are maintained.

• General Floor Cleaning: Sweeping & mopping, and vacuum all areas of the salon,

• Waste Management: Empty trash and recycling bins regularly, ensuring proper disposal and maintenance of cleanliness.

• Restroom Maintenance: Ensure restrooms are cleaned including mirrors, sinks, and toilets, and stocked with necessary supplies (toilet paper, soap, etc.) throughout each shift.

• Tool Maintenance: Maintain a cleaning schedule of stylist tools and products to ensure they have easy access to clean supplies throughout the day , notifying management when supplies are low or damaged.

• Collaborate with Salon Staff: Work alongside the stylists and salon team to maintain a seamless working environment.

• Deep Cleaning Tasks: Assist in periodic deep cleaning tasks such as windows, washers, dryers, and refrigerators

Who You Are

We’re looking for someone with a great attitude and an eye for detail. You’ll thrive in this role if you're:

• Naturally friendly, stylish, and professional in appearance

• Attention to Detail: High level of attention to cleanliness, organized and proactive about cleanliness and upkeep

• Eager to learn and support others in a team setting

• Comfortable taking direction and using initiative

• Experienced in customer-facing roles (preferred but not required)

• Interested in beauty, natural hair, or salon culture
